The first official trailer for Annabelle Comes Home has just dropped. This is the first trailer that I’ve ever seen that seen come out on a Sunday and it definitely has a lot to unpack from it so throughout this video I’ll be breaking down everything that you need to know about the movie.
This is full spoilers ahead, so if you don’t want to know anything about Annabelle Comes Home, then I highly recommend that you turn off now.
With that out the way lets dive into my trailer explained video for Annabelle Comes Home
Annabelle Comes Home Official First Trailer Explained
Ok so straight away from the Trailer the first thing that you’ll pick up is that this is pretty much Annabelle VS The Warrens. This movie takes place after all of the Conjuring films and is moving away from the prequel aesthetic that the franchise seems to have been leading with for the past couple of releases.
The movie is due to release on June 28th and is going to be directed by Gary Dauberman. Whilst some people may be disappointed that David F Sandberg is not working on the film, Dauberman was actually the screenwriter for Annabelle: Creation and the The Nun as well as IT and that’s a pretty good resume to go into this film with.
The plot synopsis recently released by New Line Cinema and Warner Bros reads:
“Determined to keep Annabelle from wreaking more havoc, demonologists Ed and Lorraine Warren (Patrick Wilson and Vera Farmiga) bring the possessed doll to the locked artifacts room in their home, placing her “safety” behind sacred glass and enlisting a priest’s holy blessing. But an unholy night of horror awaits as Annabelle awakens the evil spirits in the room, who all set their sights on a new target – the Warren’s ten-year-old daughter Judy (Mckenna Grace), and her babysitters (Madison Iseman and Katie Sarife).”
It’s pretty clear that the trailer is going to ramp up the spirits and ghosts to the max with Annabelle acting as a beacon for countless spirits. It’s a pretty safe bet to say that the movie will feature cameos from the other spirits in the series so far and I can’t wait to see them back on the big screen.
The trailer we open with them locking Annabelle away in the museum of cursed artefacts where we know from the other films that the doll remained for the majority of the series.
It seems like The Doll will no longer be able to wreak havoc, however, The Warren’s daughter and co unwittingly enter the locked room and it gets released.
Cue your worst nightmares.
Who goes into a room and touches everything? I mean come on, there’s warning signs everywhere, DO NOT TOUCH.
Anyway, whilst this is unconfirmed completely, it appears that the movie will tie into The Curse Of La Llorna which is due to be released on May 3rd.
The Curse Of La Lorna Connection?
That film introduces us to La Lorna who is cursed to become a spirit after drowning her own children.
The studio seem to be keeping the connections pretty closely guarded as they will likely try and pull it out as a surprise in the film similar to how Split was connected to the Unbreakable universe but it’s a safe bet to make that she will appear in the film at some point too but I guess we will find out on June 28th.
